The Gadgetmobile, also spelled the Gadget Mobile, is Gadget's trusty car that he uses when he is on his cases in nearly every episode of Inspector Gadget. It largely resembles a Lotus Esprit S2 (in the original series) and is equipped with all sorts of gadgets.

In the Inspector Gadget film series, it is a talking male car with its own personality and mind. In Inspector Gadget 2, the Gadgetmobile is given a new look as a purple color instead of his former white color.

Modes[]

This vehicle transforms into 2 different modes:

Van mode[]

Gadget uses this mode when he is usually out on a family trip somewhere with Penny and Brain (like the airport, for example).

Police car mode[]

Gadget uses this mode to solve his cases in. Unlike its van mode, this mode is much faster. This mode has things like a robotic claw at the front to grab things, extendable wheels (much like the Gadget Legs), ejector seats, and gadgets that come out of the back such as "hilarious gas", rockets that fire glue, and a parachute. The Gadget mobile flies in only one episode of Inspector Gadget, which is Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas 1991.

Behind the scenes[]

In the original series, the police car mode closely resembles early Lotus Esprit models, and the cars Gadget uses in the live action films are based on early 1960s Lincoln Continentals. In the 2015 reboot, the Gadgetmobile resembles a Fiat 500, and can also transform into a race car that looks a bit like a Porsche in the front. This Gadgetmobile could also transform into a larger variety of other forms, such as a monster truck for off-road travel, a submarine for underwater travel, a UFO for space travel, and a hover-gyro. The new Gadgetmobile replaced the original after it crumbled to dust due to Gadget's hijinks.

In Inspector Gadget's Last Case, the car resembles a pale yellow Volkswagen Bug. He is voiced by Jaleel White.

In Inspector Gadget's Biggest Caper Ever, the Gadgetmobile was a sentient sky blue convertible with navy blue fenders, denoted as Gadget's car thanks to red G logos on it's doors and hood. Like the movie versions, this incarnation of the Gadgetmobile was capable of speech, but was given a more serious personality only edging out of Gadget's own incompetence. This Gadgetmobile also has it's own set of voice-activated gadgets, and on occasion, can drive without a driver. The Biggest Caper Ever Gadgetmobile could be seen talking to several characters within the film, and was voiced by the late Bernie Mac in the one-off special.

In the 1999 Disney live action film adaptation, Gadgetmobile was designed as a silver Lincoln Continental convertible, voiced by D.L. Hughley. In the 2003 sequel, the colour scheme was changed to purple and D.L. Hughley once again voiced the character. Hughley was also the only actor from the 1999 film to reprise his role in the sequel.
